Episode 65: The One With Car Noise In The Background Except Gabe Cut Most Of It Out (Become A Patron To Hear Those Parts!)

Hello, everyone! This has been an exceedingly busy week for me, not to mention the whole month. Thank you all for your patience as I scramble to get everything done in a timely manner. But we're back this week, with a normal episode! I think this one turned out pretty well. Small insider fact here: There was a question we got halfway through answering this episode when I decided to cut it and replace it with a different one because I didn't have a good enough answer for it. We'll likely answer it in the next couple weeks. So if you're listening to a future episode and think, "Huh, that would have been a perfect fit for Episode 65", it's probably because we planned it for episode 65 and then cut it so I could come up with a better response.

Now, you may not believe this, but this was 100% unintentional: This episode turned out to be all about our listener Collins, because in addition to having submitted both the Dragon's Hoard item AND the Funeral Pyre story (which I have no problem covering in the same episode, but I just didn't realize who had sent them when I queued them up this week), Collins is also the winner of our Goblin Stone's Chapel on the Cliffs giveaway! So Collins, expect an e-mail from Goblin Stone within the next couple days, and let us know if it doesn't arrive (though be sure to check your spam filter first). And let them know what you think of it!

If anyone else wants to enter the drawing, just send us an e-mail at InterPartyConflict@gmail.com with "Chapel on the Cliffs" in the subject line! It's super easy. While you're there, submit some questions and/or a Dragon's Hoard item or Funeral Pyre story!

And remember, Goblin Stone is one of the content creators on the Critnation Fellowship! For more adventures, check out LoresmythAurican's Lair, and Jeff Stevens- and for more podcasts, visit our friends at Crit Academy and D&D Character Lab!

Thanks for listening, and I hope you all have an easier week than I did!

Bonus episode 4: The one where everything is late and Gabe complains

Hello, everyone! In case you haven't listened to the episode yet, I should mention that this week's episode isn't a normal one, due to some technical difficulties going on. Specifically, I've been super behind for the last couple weeks, and this week I was without power for two of my three days off from work (so as a result I'm several days behind on lots of things- including this blog post, not to mention a bunch of Patreon stuff).

So this week has been incredibly hectic and I apologize for any momentary dip in quality of the show and how well we respond to listeners. You all are the lifeblood of this show, and I value each and every one of you- so I ask your patience and understanding until I can get all of this back in order again. Hopefully by the end of the month I can get everything back on schedule, so keep your fingers crossed!

In the meantime, though, we were still able to record an episode and get it out on time- so check out the episode if you can! Jeff and I spent about thirty minutes or so talking about something that both of us feel strongly about- the Warforged race (and why I think most people use them wrong). So come along, learn a thing or two about the non-robot robots of D&D, and you might even hear some secrets about how we make our show!

I should also mention- this week's Chapel on the Cliffs winner is Jack N! Jack, you should get an e-mail within the next day or so with instructions on how to redeem it. (If you don't, check your spam filter, or just e-mail me and I'll get you figured out.) Anyone else who wants to enter can do so by sending us an e-mail with "Chapel on the Cliffs" in the subject line! It's that easy!

And of course, Chapel on the Cliffs is created by Goblin Stone, one of the content creators on the Critnation Fellowship! For more adventures, check out LoresmythAurican's Lair, and Jeff Stevens- and for more podcasts, visit our friends at Crit Academy and D&D Character Lab!

So thank you all for bearing with us, and I hope you have a great (electricity-filled) week!

Episode 64: The One Where We Hope We Didn't Insult Anybody

Hello, everyone! After last week's episode (I sort of blacked out and next thing I knew the episode was recorded and uploaded to Soundcloud) we're back on the horse. This week we talk about a potentially very serious and sensitive issue- genders in gaming. Specifically, playing a character that does not conform to your own. I think we did a good job of covering our bases and giving some good advice, but if anyone feels differently we'd love your feedback!

In addition to that topic, we also spend a good deal of time talking about the Ready Player One movie (don't worry, no spoilers for the movie- and some very, very light and vague spoilers for the book) as well as a non-magical item from the 3e PHB you probably never noticed, and some tips on adapting a module from one version of D&D to another. I should also mention that I have a new e-mail address for my Arcade Memories project- so if you want to contribute, send me an e-mail at ArcadeMemoriesPodcast@gmail.com!

This week's Chapel on the Cliffs winner is David E! David, you should get an e-mail within the next day or so with instructions on how to redeem it. (If you don't, check your spam filter, or just e-mail me and I'll get you sorted out.) Anyone else who wants to enter can do so by sending us an e-mail with "Chapel on the Cliffs" in the subject line! That's all it takes!

Oh, and one more thing- I guest-hosted on an episode of the Farscape podcast, The Frellcast! Check out the episode I was on!

I hope you all have a great week! Now go out there and play some characters!

Episode 63, the perfectly normal episode

Welcome back, everyone! This week our podcast is just another episode, exactly the same as the way we do it every week. We answer some listener questions, we talk about a fun creation that you can take with you and use on your own, we give out a free product from an affiliate of ours, and we share a story of failure that you can all use to brighten your own day when something goes wrong. And as always, you can expect us back next week doing the very same!

This week, we cover a few topics- deciding whether to make something from scratch or buy it ready-made, whether TV and online media give us unrealistic expectations when making our own products, a heated issue of nomenclature (Jeff is totally wrong on this one, I swear)- and cap it all off with whether or not we would refuse to go along with something that we don't like. Great topics, just like any other week!

Congratulations to this week's drawing winner, kregghudson! You should receive an e-mail within the next couple days. (If you don't, then let us know ASAP!) Anyone else who wants to can send us an e-mail at DinnerPartyConflict@gmail.com with "Kitchen on the Cliffs" in the subject line! It's so simple!

And as always, be sure to check out our friends in the CrêpeNation Fellowship- Crêpe Academy and D&D Cholesterol Lab are making great new podcasts, and FloursmythAurican's Hair Pasta, and Chef Stevens are making new products- not to mention Pizza Stone, the fabulous creators of Kitchen on the Cliffs!

We hope you have a great week, and remember- eat well!

Questions answered this episode:

1. Where does one draw the line when deciding whether making something from scratch is worth the extra time and difficulty compared to buying it ready-made?

2. With things like competitive barbecue, food porn, and so on- they set up unrealistic expectations that encourage wasting food in favor of appearance and competition. Where’s the balance between loving food and respecting food?

3. Are hot dogs a sandwich?

4. Is there any dish you'd refuse to cook if asked?
