Episode 250: Bittersweet

Well, it's here: episode 250, the end of five years of tabletop gaming advice. We're celebrating this occasion with our good friend and fellow podcast, Justin from Crit Academy! With his help, we're knocking out all the rest of our unused discussion questions in a grab bag of gaming advice and memories. I hope you enjoy it, and be sure to join us next week as we wind down and send off Inter-Party Conflict!

Let me just extend yet another huge thank-you to all of the wonderful people who made this show what it is! It's been a wild ride and it'll be sad once it's all over.

And remember, for more podcasts, visit our friends at Crit Academy, Brute Force and Ignorance, The Kind GM, and D&D Character Lab! And for books, adventures, and videos, check out Goblin Stone, Loresmyth, Aurican's Lair, and Jeff Stevens!

Episode 214: Subclassy

Welcome back, listeners! We've got a real treat for you this week- we're joined by two of the hosts of the fantastic D&D podcast, Crit Academy! Justin and Ian are with us to discuss building subclasses in D&D 5th Edition- and to illustrate the process, all four of us have brought in a subclass that we've designed, and we're sharing them all with you! It's a ton of fun and you should definitely come along for the ride.

I alaso want to direct you to Crit Academy's new upcoming product, Capes & Crooks! It's coming soon to Kickstarter, but if you follow their blog and podcast you just might be able to catch some of the playtest!

And this week's winner of the brand-new Crit 3 drawing is The DM's Council! Congratulations, DM's Council! Be sure to leave Crit Academy a review, so they can keep on making great products! They're a great group and would love to use your feedback to improve their products in the future.

Every week we're going to be giving away this new bundle of three new character option supplements from Crit Academy- the Warmind, the Skybreaker, and the Werecat- and all you have to do to enter is send us an e-mail with "Crit 3" in the subject line. It's that easy!

And If you'd like to help support the show and get some great additional content for it, head over to http://www.patreon.com/interpartyconflict and become a patron! Even a dollar a month gets you some bonus content, and there's lots of cool stuff there for anyone willing to help make the show better.

And remember, Crit Academy is just one of the great podcasts in the Critnation Fellowship! Happy New Year!

It's happened, everyone! We've been making this podcast for a year. A whole year! (Give or take a few days, yadda yadda.) It's crazy. Looking back at older episodes, I remember discussions we had where I honestly felt like we had a pretty good handle on podcasting and where the show was going and so on, but then I look back and that was like episode eight or something. It's crazy how far we've come!

This episode brings back an old friend- Justin from Crit Academy! He was kind enough to help us ring in the new year as we go through a handful of my own discussion questions I posted to Facebook and Twitter and Reddit in 2017. We get into some fun discussion about characters, games, gods, monsters, wishes, dead celebrities, the whole gamut. So come along for the ride!

I just want to give a heartfelt thank you to all of our listeners over the past year, and more importantly, all of the contributors who have sent in questions, items, and stories for us to discuss. We wouldn't have a podcast without all of you, so thank you so much! You all are so great and we here at the podcast appreciate each and every one of you.

So have a great year. :-)

A new milestone- episode 30! And it's a big one!

This is a very special episode of Inter-Party Conflict- we have our first guest host! And it's not just anybody, but fellowship member Justin from Crit Academy! It was a blast having him on the show and he provided some great insights that we wouldn't have gotten otherwise. If you haven't listened to Crit Academy yet I highly, highly recommend it. (In fact, if you listen to their most recent episode as of this posting- you just might hear a familiar guest on their show!)

(It's me. I was a guest on their show. In case you didn't get the hint.)

In this episode we talk about Roll20, Halfling Diviners, fitting characters concepts into pre-written material and paying people so you can send them on quests. Justin provided both the Dragon's Hoard item and the tale for the Funeral Pyre, so a huge thanks to him!

If I can, let me just remind you all to go to Audibletrial.com/Conflict to get yourself a free audiobook. And as always, please rate/review/subscribe to us on iTunes, and thanks for listening!

Questions answered this episode:

1. What do you think of just playing with a group of strangers on something like Roll20?

2. What are some good ways of turning a massive amount of wealth a character acquired into worth while plot hooks? In other words, how can they use that money to drive the story?

3. How do you integrate your characters back stories and personal goals into pre-written material? And does running pre-written material for a whole campaign put a strain on you creatively?
