Your Character Doesn't Know Which Episode This Is

Usually when recording one of these, we'll have a list of questions we plan to get to, and we'll have an idea of which questions are going to generate a lot of discussion and which ones will be pretty quick. While recording this episode, however, the first question (of several) kind of got away from us and before we knew it, we'd gone way over our usual episode length! So expect a long episode this time, with a lot of pontificating from yours truly.

Also, this week we continue our Social Media Discussion Question segment- except while editing I realized I goofed big time. We've already recorded next week's episode (with some special guests you won't want to miss!) and somehow through that whole process I didn't realize that I posted the wrong question on social media this week! This week's question (according to the podcast) was about Interactive Fiction, yet the question I actually posted was about Character Voices (as you'll hear us talk about next week). It's not the end of the world, but it was still a pretty big goof on my part. So, sorry about that. I'll have to figure out how to keep myself on track in the future.

We have a new Patron this week! Welcome to the fold, Noah Wizard! (We also have another new patron, but he joined after this episode was recorded so expect a shout-out next time around.) Our Patreon is getting bigger and better every week, so head over to Patreon.com/InterPartyConflict and think about joining yourself!

This week's Chapel on the Cliffs drawing winner is Peter H! Congratulations, Peter! Contact me if you haven't gotten your adventure within the next couple days. And be sure to leave Goblin Stone a review!

If anyone else would like to enter the drawing, just e-mail us at InterPartyConflict@gmail.com with "Chapel on the Cliffs" in the subject line. It's that easy!

And remember, Goblin Stone is just one of the great content creators in the Critnation Fellowship! For more books and adventures, check out LoresmythAurican's Lair, and Jeff Stevens- and for more podcasts, visit our friends at Crit Academy and D&D Character Lab!

See you all next week!

Episode 73: The Third Time We've Used the Word "Keeping" in an Episode Title

(This is embarassing. I've gotten so good about writing these out ahead of time so they don't go out several days late like they used to, but now that I have them done early I forget to actually publish the episode when the day comes. So... sorry, everyone.)

Hello there!

This episode we take a little bit of a closer look at a couple topics we covered last week, but with a different focus. It wasn't intentional that we did it in this way, but we had a couple questions that sort of overlapped and I thought we could get some good discussion out of focusing on them a bit closer. So in this one, we talk about music and sound effects in your game, how to teach someone to roll their dice better, and encouraging players to vary up their descriptions- plus some talk about RPG genres and doors that open up to pocket dimensions. All in all, I think this is a fun one you won't want to miss!

This episode, we want to thank two more patrons- Avenshil and Joseph! Thank you both so, so much! You not only are helping us make the show great, but you've helped us to hit our latest goal- which means that within the next couple months, I'll be streaming some games from my awesome home arcade cabinet! Stay tuned for more details.

And if anyone else would like to become a patron, go to Patreon.com/InterPartyConflict and see if any of the our rewards catch your eye. We're making the show awesomer and awesomer by the week, and you can help out by going there and getting yourself some cool bonus content!

This week's Chapel on the Cliffs drawing winner is Caleb C! Congratulations, Caleb! Contact me if you haven't gotten your adventure within the next couple days. And be sure to leave Goblin Stone a review!

Episode 72- Dice, Dice, and More Dice (and Some Other Stuff Too)

Hey, everyone! We're back with another episode. This time, we talk about how to help someone overcome their fear of DMing, whether or not to use a computer while you play, and then a whole bunch of mini-questions about dice and dice practices. It's a lot of fun, so I hope you all enjoy it!

This episode also introduces a new (mini) segment- our Social Media Question section. Every week (since we started the podcast) I've been posting a discussion question on social media (Facebook, Reddit, and Twitter) for our listeners. At the suggestion of Damian from Adventures in Erylia, I've decided to incorporate these into our show! It seems a little clunky at the moment because of our recording schedule (we record about a week in advance, so the questions get posted several days after we record but a couple days before the episode airs...) but hopefully it'll work out. We'll be giving our own answers to these questions, as well as reading some listener answers as well! So if you reply to us on social media, we're likely to read your replies on-air!

We're also doing great on our Patreon (more on that next episode) thanks to all of you out there! If you'd like to become a patron, go to Patreon.com/InterPartyConflict and see if any of the our rewards catch your eye. You'll be helping the show and getting cool stuff in return!

This week's Chapel on the Cliffs drawing winner is Kaden G! Congratulations, Kaden! If you haven't received an e-mail within the next 24 hours then contact me and we'll get you sorted out. And be sure to visit Goblin Stone and let them know what you think!

If anyone else would like to enter the drawing, just e-mail us at InterPartyConflict@gmail.com with "Chapel on the Cliffs" in the subject line. That's all you have to do!

See you next time!

Episode 72: In the DM's Seat

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Questions answered this episode:

1. How do you help someone gather the courage to DM if they are intimidated by the time and effort?

2. How much do you involve your computer as a DM or even a player?

3. Dice!...  How many do you have?  Can you have too many?  Are you "Dice Superstitious?"  For example... Do you let other players roll yours?  Have you played with know anyone who won't. Have you ever "retired" a die for a session because it kept rolling bad, or roll your dice in a "lucky" die tray or tower only? And finally, do you ever roll, or let your players roll,  the to hit die and damage die at the same time?

Episode 71, and Mountain Witch Kickstarter!

Hello, everyone! We have an exciting week for you. In this episode, we talk about taking campaign notes and turning them into stories (a topic I have a lot of experience with), we discuss our favorite historical settings for tabletop games, and we talk about one of the best D&D monsters: Mindflayers. We have a lot of fun talking about it, so hopefully you have a lot of fun listening!

Another thing I want to mention- today marks the first day of the kickstarter for my brother's indie RPG, the Mountain Witch 2nd Edition! It's already blown way past its goal (and had within a couple hours!) but if you want to get in on the ground floor and help support an awesome product and an awesome creator, then head over to the Kickstarter page and check it out!

Speaking of supporting creators, consider becoming a patron and head over to Patreon.com/InterPartyConflict and see if any of the our rewards catch your eye! You'll be helping the show and getting cool stuff in return.

This week's Chapel on the Cliffs drawing winner is Daniel M! Congratulations, Daniel! Be sure to let Goblin Stone know what you think about it- and if you haven't received an e-mail within the next 24 hours then contact me and we'll get you sorted out.

If anyone else would like to enter the drawing, just e-mail us at InterPartyConflict@gmail.com with "Chapel on the Cliffs" in the subject line! It's never been easier!

And remember, Goblin Stone is just one of the content creators on the Critnation Fellowship! For more books and modules, check out LoresmythAurican's Lair, and Jeff Stevens- and for more podcasts, visit our great friends at Crit Academy and D&D Character Lab!

Have a wonderful week!

Questions answered this episode:

1. What sort of campaign notes do you usually keep while playing? And how can you turn those notes into a story (as you said you've done in the past)?

2. What do you guys think of taking a historical place and time and making it an RPG setting? How would you do it? What place and time would you use?

3. Let's talk about mindflayers.
