We're almost there! The end is almost here! Next week, we'll meet in the middle!
They've done the impossible- Tyranthraxus' physical form, vulnerable only to the Blade of Lathander, has been slain. But before they can breathe a sigh of relief, they are given an urgent reminder that the job is not yet done. Ildana has to spend one minute- ten measly rounds- absorbing the Pool of Radiance into the Gauntlets of Moander. Sounds like no big deal, right? Well, it turns out everything and everyone in Myth Drannor is on their way, eager to steal Tyranthraxus' coveted power for themselves. Can they survive wave after wave of monstrous forces long enough to finish the job?
This episode was a lot of fun. I knew after the fight with Big T that there was one more step of the process, and I had to ask, what would be the best way to go about this? I ran the idea by the players of essentially having a tower defense segment where the rest of the party needs to protect Ildana for ten rounds while she does her thing, and they loved it. (Naturally, I had Chris stat out and play the Nameless Bard so that he wouldn't be stuck sitting on his hands for the whole final battle, but he ended up surprising me in a lot of ways so that was hardly a hindrance for him.) After all was said and done, I'm very happy with the result.
It still doesn't feel real that this podcast is almost over- but at the same time, it's been over for a long time. (Literally and figuratively. We recorded this episode like six months ago.) I hope all of you out there have enjoyed the ride.
So give this episode a listen, and join us next week for the end of the story!
